Cardiac arrest victims may have better chance of survival with advanced life support
The study looked at whether advanced life support (ALS) is better than basic life support (BLS) for patients who have a sudden cardiac arrest outside of a hospital. In Japan, emergency life-saving technicians give ALS, while emergency medical technicians give BLS. The researchers wanted to know which approach works better. They found that there is no clear evidence that ALS is more effective than BLS for these patients.
