Overweight women at higher risk for aggressive breast cancer tumors.
Breast cancer patients at a single center in Jeddah, KSA were studied to see how chronic diseases might affect their outcomes. Data from 196 patients showed that most were between 40-69 years old, with many being overweight or obese. The majority of tumors were small (T1-T2), high grade, and invasive ductal carcinoma. Most patients had non-triple negative breast cancer, with many being progesterone receptor positive and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 negative. The study suggests a link between being overweight or obese and developing breast cancer.
