Global initiative aims to reduce health disparities through improved breastfeeding support.
Breastfeeding is crucial for the health of both babies and mothers. Low- and middle-income countries face a much higher burden of health issues related to suboptimal breastfeeding compared to high-income countries. To address this, efforts are being made to expand breastfeeding support in hospitals and communities, provide counseling in national health programs, improve workplace accommodations for breastfeeding women, and regulate the marketing of commercial milk formula. These strategies aim to improve breastfeeding rates, reduce health disparities, and help countries achieve UN Sustainable Development Goals.
