Deworming medication use during pregnancy in Sierra Leone on the rise!
Intestinal worm infections can harm pregnant women in Sierra Leone, causing problems like anemia and premature birth. Giving deworming medication during pregnancy can help prevent these issues. A study looked at data from 2008 to 2019 and found that more women in Sierra Leone are using deworming medication during pregnancy. The use of this medication increased from 43.8% in 2008 to 83.5% in 2019. While some inequalities in access to deworming medication improved, others got slightly worse. Overall, the findings show progress in maternal healthcare access and education in Sierra Leone.
