Powdered human milk fortifier improves health outcomes for preterm infants.
The study compared the effects of using powdered human milk-based fortifier (PHMF) versus powdered bovine milk-based fortifier (PBMF) in preterm infants on an exclusive human milk diet. The researchers looked at faecal calprotectin levels, plasma amino acids, and clinical outcomes. The findings showed that preterm infants receiving PHMF had lower faecal calprotectin levels and better clinical outcomes compared to those receiving PBMF.
