Forceful feeding linked to child malnutrition in rural Bangladesh
Caregiver feeding behaviors in rural Bangladesh were studied to see how they affect children's diets and growth. The researchers looked at 4733 children aged 24 months, analyzing feeding behaviors, dietary diversity, and growth indicators like stunting and underweight. They found that caregivers who were more responsive and involved in feeding had children with better dietary diversity. On the other hand, forceful feeding behaviors were linked to lower dietary diversity and higher rates of underweight and wasting in children. This suggests that how caregivers feed their children can impact their nutrition and growth outcomes.
