Mass campaigns needed to combat high prevalence of intestinal parasites in schools.
Digestive parasitosis is common in children in developing countries. A study at a school in Benin found that 24.80% of children had intestinal parasites. More boys than girls were affected. Older children had more parasites than younger ones. Most cases were due to amoebiasis and hookworm. Screening and treating parasites in schools can help prevent the spread of these infections.
