Access to Healthcare in South Sudan Impacted by Medication Availability and Location
Access to healthcare in South Sudan is a big problem. A study looked at what makes people seek medical help and where they go for it. They found that getting medication, paying for it, living in Western Equatoria, and knowing about community health workers make people more likely to seek care. People who pay for medication and live far from public health centers are more likely to go to private facilities. People who have used a provider before, live in Western Equatoria, live in rural areas, and have longer travel times are less likely to go to private facilities. Different states in South Sudan have different patterns of seeking healthcare. More research is needed to understand this better.
