Low Community-Based Newborn Care Utilization Linked to Maternal Age and Wealth
The study looked at how many new mothers in Nekemte City, Ethiopia used community-based care for their newborns. They found that only about 35% of mothers used this type of care, which is lower than recommended. Factors like starting prenatal care early, age, marital status, and income level were linked to whether mothers used community-based care. The researchers suggest that raising awareness about early prenatal care and providing support to widowed or higher-income mothers could help improve the use of community-based newborn care services.
