Mothers in Nigeria Willing to Pay for Malaria Vaccine for Kids
Mothers in Northcentral Nigeria were studied to see if they knew about and were willing to give their young children a malaria vaccine. The researchers found that most mothers were not aware of the vaccine, but almost all of them were willing to vaccinate their children and pay for it. Some mothers were worried about side effects like pain and fever, and some preferred an oral vaccine. Younger mothers and those with higher incomes were more likely to accept the vaccine. The study suggests that educating mothers about malaria vaccines could help increase acceptance and protect more children from malaria.
