Human milk IgA protects infants from gut bacteria linked to chronic diseases.
Human milk IgA helps babies develop a healthy immune system by controlling a specific gut bacteria called Erysipelatoclostridium ramosum. This bacteria can cause issues, but IgA in breast milk stops it from sticking to the gut and causing problems. This study used human milk samples to show how IgA affects the gut bacteria and immune system development in infants.
