Post-cerclage cervical length predicts preterm birth risk under 34 weeks.
The study looked at how the length of the cervix before and after a procedure called cervical cerclage can predict the risk of giving birth prematurely. They studied 331 women who had the procedure between 2008 and 2021. The results showed that the length of the cervix after the procedure was a better predictor of premature birth before 34 weeks than the length before the procedure. Other factors like race, smoking history, and previous pregnancy complications did not significantly affect the risk of premature birth.
