Inadequate Breastfeeding Knowledge Linked to Urban Areas and Education Levels
The study looked at what mothers know, think, and do about breastfeeding and mastitis. They surveyed 682 moms at a hospital and found that many had limited knowledge, not the best attitude, and were proactive about breastfeeding and mastitis. Living in a city, having a higher education, not working, and having breast surgery history were linked to what moms knew. Having a higher education, more income, and breast surgery history were linked to attitudes. Attitude and having maternity insurance were linked to what moms did. To help moms breastfeed better and prevent mastitis, it's suggested to focus on educating city moms, improving attitudes in higher-educated and breast surgery history moms, and supporting maternity insurance.
